The Art of Storytelling

Join us for a special workshop in Central perfect for 10 to 14 year-olds. This workshop will use reading, writing, and storytelling to ignite your child’s imagination and reignite their passion for learning! GROWHOUSE is partnering with editor Sam Strozzo and international best-selling author Pashmina P. to deliver this interactive workshop that you don’t want to miss!

GROWHOUSE Extravaganza

This free afternoon activity merged laughter and learning for all children involved. Pre-schoolers joined us for a meet and greet on 26-27 November with The Very Cranky Bear. This included a dramatic reading and inspiring reading workshop with The Very Cranky Bear, as well as a visit from the Bear himself! They came for The Very Cranky Bear, and stayed for the activities straight out of our new Early Book Explorer curriculum!

RAISING Kids with Picture Books by Catherine Chan

Picture books play an important role in a child’s development. This bi-lingual English and Cantonese seminar was about introducing children to the concept of reading. How can you select the appropriate picture books, and use them with kids appropriately to inspire their thinking? Catherine gave her tips and GROWHOUSE teachers demonstrated the techniques she shared.

Catherine Chan has been working for newspaper companies that publish English educational titles for more than a decade. She has published several children books and written numerous articles for Hong Kong Economic Times and the Sing Tao Group where Catherine also set up an editorial team to produce English newspapers for primary and secondary students. Catherine is a firm advocate of promoting children’s literature; currently, she is a contributing writer of a children’s literature column published in Smart Parents magazine. Catherine graduated from university with a journalism degree. She loves journalism as well as young learners’ education.

Panel discussion: My Mother is an Author

Have you dreamed of writing professionally but the responsibilities of work and family prevented you from pursuing this? Well, three mothers with jobs in Finance, Media and Banking have proven that you can! Dreams can come true, regardless of your age, profession and obligations. In this discussion, three inspiring women proved that if you have the passion, anything is possible!
